Online casino promotions can be a great way to boost your chances of winning. However, it’s often confusing for a newcomer to the industry to understand all the jargons and terms used by Online Casinos. Here are some tips on factors to evaluate online casino promotions :

  • Bonus percentage and maximum bonus amount.
    • The bonus percentage is the percentage of bonus money that you’ll receive on top of the deposit that you put in.
    • The maximum bonus amount is the highest amount of bonus money you can receive from that particular promotion.
    • Example : Promotion offers 150% deposit bonus up to $200 and you deposit $200.
      • $200 (deposit) x 150% (bonus %) = $300 (bonus amount). Eventhough you’re supposed to get $300 in bonus but because the maximum bonus amount is $200, they will only give you $200 for your $200 deposit.
  • Check the turnover requirements.
    • Turnover requirements are the amount of money you need to wager before you can withdraw your bonus winnings.
    • A 20x turnover requirement means that you need to wager 20 times the amount of your bonus + your deposit amount before you can withdraw your winnings.
    • Example : Promotion offers 100% bonus with a 6x turnover requirement and you deposit $100.
      • $100 (deposit) x 100% (bonus %) = $100 (bonus amount)
      • ($100 (deposit) + $100 (bonus amount)) x 6 (turnover)
      • $1200 is the turnover amount. Any winnings above this amount will be eligible for withdrawal
  • Look for other terms and conditions. Some bonuses may have other terms and conditions, such as a validity period or maximum bet limits. Be sure to read the terms and conditions carefully before claiming a bonus.
    • Example : Promotion offers 200% bonus and maximum withdrawal of $200 and you deposit $100.
      • $100 (deposit) +$200 (bonus amount) = $300 total wagering amount but you can only withdraw a maximum of $200 at the end of your play regardless of your winnings.

How to Calculate the Bonus Ratio of Online Casino Bonuses :

Example 1:

DepositBonusTurnover
RM100100% Deposit Bonus up to RM50020x

Calculation:

The expected Bonus Ratio of the bonus is calculated as follows:

Bonus Ratio = Bonus / Turnover
Bonus Ratio = Bonus Amount / ((Deposit Amount + Bonus Amount) * Turnover requirement)
Bonus Ratio = RM100 / (( RM100 + RM100 ) * 20 )
Bonus Ratio = RM100 / RM4,000
Bonus Ratio = 2.5%

This means that this Bonus is 2.5% of the Turnover requirement. The higher the % the more advantageous it is for you.

Example 2:

DepositBonusTurnover
RM10050% Deposit Bonus up to RM25012x

Calculation:

The expected Bonus Ratio of the bonus is calculated as follows:

Bonus Ratio = Bonus / Turnover
Bonus Ratio = Bonus Amount / ((Deposit Amount + Bonus Amount) * Turnover requirement)
Bonus Ratio = RM50 / (( RM100 + RM50 ) * 12 )
Bonus Ratio = RM250 / RM1,800
Bonus Ratio = 2.78%

This means that this Bonus is 2.78% of the Turnover requirement. This promotion has a better bonus ratio than Example 1.

Example 3:

DepositBonusTurnover
RM100200% Deposit Bonus up to RM100040x

Calculation:

The expected Bonus Ratio of the bonus is calculated as follows:

Bonus Ratio = Bonus / Turnover
Bonus Ratio = Bonus Amount / ((Deposit Amount + Bonus Amount) * Turnover requirement)
Bonus Ratio = RM200 / (( RM100 + RM200) * 40 )
Bonus Ratio = RM200 / RM12,000
Bonus Ratio = 1.67%

This means that this Bonus is 1.67% of the Turnover requirement. This promotion has worse ratio than Example 1 & 2.

Conclusion

By calculating the expected bonus ratio of an online casino bonus, you can get a better idea of its true value. Bonuses with a higher bonus ratio are more advantageous, as they are more likely to give you higher chances of winning. However, do take note of maximum bonus amounts as it might bring down the ratio if you exceed the limit.
